Lancers Upset Musketeers New Year's Eve Party, 4-1

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Omaha Lancers took down the Sioux City Musketeers on New Years' Eve night by a final score of 4-1 Thursday night.
In the first period, Zakary Karpa tipped in a shot from Nikita Tarasevich to get the Lancers ahead 1-0. The goal was Karpa's first of the season. The Lancers kept the 1-0 score heading into the first intermission.
In the second frame, the Musketeers evened up the game 1-1 when Brendan Carrabes scored at 13:46. The Lancers answered back a minute later when Sam Antenucci snapped the puck in past Alex Tracey to get the Lancers back ahead 2-1. Tracey misplayed the puck behind his own net where Kyle Bettens stole and sent a pass to Antenucci. The Lancers kept the 2-1 lead going into the second intermission.
In the third period, Ryan Lautenbach extended the Lancers lead to 3-1 at 18:15 sniping the puck past Tracey's shoulder. The Lancers capitalized late on the power-play when Zakary Karpa netted his second of the night and season at 19:35 for a 4-1 final score. Jakub Dobes stopped 28 of the 29 Musketeers shots he faced on the night.
The Lancers are now 9-5 on the season with 18 points and hold the spot at second in the USHL Western Conference.
The Lancers and Musketeers are back in action again on Saturday, January 2nd at the Tyson Events Center. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. All the action is on MixLR and HockeyTV.
