Tri-City Storm News Release

KEARNEY, Neb. - Usually when the Storm have a Sunday off, players are using it to rest up, playing video games and watching football.

But last Sunday morning the entire Tri-City Storm roster made the trip to Kramer, Neb., to support a benefit for Lisa Nitzel Dello, mother of defenseman Tory Dello.

Lisa has been courageously battling cancer for five years. The event raised funds to help with her travel and medical expenses.

While the players enjoyed a pancake breakfast, they also helped with a raffle conducted to raise funds. The Storm organization contributed a few items to the raffle, including merchandise, tickets to upcoming games and an autographed Tory Dello jersey.

"It felt good to support a teammate and it definitely brought us closer as a team," said Storm defenseman Nolan Gluchowski. "It was sad seeing what Tory has been going through but I hope all of us being there for him will help."

A native of Crete, Lisa is excited to be able to make trips back to her home state to watch her son play this season. While Tory is Nebraska-born, he grew up in Crystal Lake, Ill.

An account has been set up in Lisa's name at Pinnacle Bank in Crete. To make a donation, please contact Cheryl Langfeldt at 402-826-9207.

"It was amazing for our team to get together and help out a teammate," said forward Garrett Gamez. "It was really inspirational for all of us just to realize how precious life is and how great it is to help out others."

Dello and his teammates are also preparing for the regular season, which starts in less than two weeks.

The Storm will play their final preseason games this week, hosting Lincoln on Thursday night at the Viaero Event Center at 7:05 p.m. and traveling to Omaha to face the Lancers on Friday at the Moylan-Tranquility Iceplex at 7 p.m.
