
Storm Look Ahead to Home Opener Following Road Loss to Lancers

Ralston, NE. - The Tri-City Storm look ahead to the 2020 Home Opener at the Viaero Center following a 5-1 road loss to the Omaha Lancers Friday night at Ralston Arena. Matthew Knies scored Tri-City's only goal of the game on the power-play in the 3rd period. Puck drop for tomorrow's Home Opener against Lincoln is set for 7:05pm.
The Omaha Lancers netted the first goal of the game at 12:47 of the 1st period to take a one goal lead. Ryan Lautenbach scored Omaha's opening goal of the 2020-2021 regular season on a goal assisted by Tyler Carpenter and Garret Wright. Tri-City outshot Omaha 11-8 in the 1st period but trailed 1-0 entering the 2nd period.
After a three-goal 2nd period, Omaha led 4-0 entering the 3rd period. The opening goal of the 2nd period was scored by Spencer Cox at the 2:54 mark of the period. Zackary Karpa and Sam Antenucci recorded the assists on the Omaha scoring play. At 12:34 of the 2nd period, Nick Perna converted on a 2 on 0 breakaway after receiving a pass from teammate Sam Antenucci. Antenucci scored the final goal of the period at 14:18 on a goal assisted by Michal Cameron. Omaha outshot Tri-City 8-7 in the 2nd period and carried a four-goal lead into the 3rd period.
Matthew Knies netted a power-play goal at 6:21 of the 3rd period to put the Storm on the scoreboard. The goal was assisted by Victor Czerneckianair and Adam Klapka. Omaha's Tyler Carpenter scored the final goal of the game at 14:25 of the 3rd period to give Omaha the 5-1 home win. Grant Riley recorded 11 saves on 15 Omaha shots in 34:18 of playing time and recorded the loss in net. Todd Scott made 3 saves on 4 shots in 25:42 of game time. Omaha's Jakub Dobes recorded the victory in net following a 24 save on 25 shot performance in goal.
A limited amount of tickets are available for tomorrow's Home Opener against the Lincoln Stars and Sunday's home game against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Seating capacity at the Viaero Center will be limited to 25% for both home games this weekend. Fans wishing to attend the games are strongly encouraged to purchased tickets online or at the Viaero Center Box Office prior to each game. Masks are required to enter the arena, while walking on the concourse, in the restrooms, and while in line at the concession stands. Although masks are not required once you are sitting down in the seats, the Tri-City Storm & the Viaero Center strongly recommend masks are worn while seated.
