
Storm Begin Three-Game Weekend in Omaha

Ralston, NE. - The Tri-City Storm begin a three-game weekend tonight at Ralston Arena in a battle with the Omaha Lancers. Tomorrow, Tri-City returns to host the Lincoln Stars at the Viaero Center for the Home Opener for the 2020-2021 USHL regular season. The Storm battle the Waterloo Black Hawks on Sunday at the Viaero Center to complete the three-game weekend. Tri-City (1-0-0-0) returns to action this weekend following a 5-1 road win over the Sioux City Musketeers last Saturday night at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Hunter Strand (2), Carter Mazur, Cole McWard, and Mark Estapa all scored goals in the victory. Todd Scott made 31 saves on 32 shots to record the win in net for the Storm. Tri-City's power play struck twice in the 1st period and finished the game 2 for 4. The Storm's penalty kill successfully killed a Sioux City 5 on 3 power play in the 1st period and finished the game 4 for 4. Hunter Strand was named the Game's 1st Star and Todd Scott was awarded 2nd Star honors. In the preseason, Tri-City swept the Omaha Lancers with wins on October 21st, October 25th, and October 29th.
Omaha (0-0-0-0) opens play in the regular season tonight following a 3-3-1-0 record in the preseason. Tonight's game is the Lancers' only game of the weekend after tomorrow's previously scheduled road game against the Des Moines Buccaneers was postponed due to minimum standards not being met in the USHL's safety protocols. Tri-City's previously scheduled road game against the Des Moines Buccaneers for Friday, November 6th was also postponed due to minimum standards not being met in the USHL's safety protocols. Omaha finished the 2019-2020 regular season directly above the Storm in 3rd place in the Western Conference standings with a final record of 27-15-7-1. The Lancers lost last season's Home Opener at Ralston Arena to the Lincoln Stars by a final score of 6-1.
The first 1,000 fans at tomorrow's Home Opener at the Viaero Center will receive a mask presented by Viaero Wireless. Drink specials at the game will include; $2 Busch Light cans, $4 Well drinks, and $2 Sodas/water.
