Storm Host Force on Painted Ice to Begin Concrete Cares Weekend
Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm returns to action tonight at the Viaero Center in Kearney to begin "Concrete Cares Weekend" on the painted ice. A limited amount of tickets are still available for tonight's game against the Fargo Force. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144 or by visiting www.StormHockey.com. Puck drop for tonight's first game of "Concrete Cares Weekend" is scheduled for 7:05pm.
On Wednesday night, approximately two-hundred Storm fans, along with several players and staff members, painted the ice at the Viaero Center with messages of support and remembrance for friends and family members who have been affected by cancer. This is the seventh season that the Tri-City Storm has hosted games on the painted ice. "Concrete Cares Weekend" is part of Kearney Concrete's Concrete Cares of Nebraska initiative. Concrete Cares of Nebraska is a nonprofit group of volunteers in the concrete industry that provides events to help raise money for families and individuals that are stricken by cancer. The Storm will wear specialty jersey's this weekend that will be auctioned off following tomorrow's game in a live auction conducted in the arena.
Tri-City (17-11-1-1) returns to action tonight after picking up three of a possible six points in the standings last weekend in home games against the Lincoln Stars and Sioux Falls Stampede. The Storm defeated the Stars 4-1 last Friday night before dropping back-to-back games against the Stampede on Saturday and Sunday. Scoring leaders for the Storm entering tonight's home game against the Fargo Force include; Carter Mazur (11), Cole McWard (11), Hunter Strand (9), Ben Schoen (9), Mark Estapa (8), Rhett Pitlick (7), Cole O'Hara (7), and Gavin Brindley (7). The Storm has posted a 3-2-0-0 record against the Force in five previous meetings this season. Tonight's game is the final head-to-head matchup between the Storm and the Force in the 2020-2021 regular season. Tri-City hosts the Sioux City Musketeers tomorrow afternoon at 4:05pm for its second and final game of "Concrete Cares Weekend".
Fargo (21-11-2-0) enters tonight's game at the Viaero Center as the 1st place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Force swept the Sioux City Musketeers in back-to-back home games at Scheels Arena last weekend. Fargo is currently on a four game-road winning streak and has not lost an away game since the team was shutout by the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box on January 30th. Scoring leaders for Fargo entering tonight's game include; Tristan Broz (14), Austin Wong (11), Jeremy Davidson (9), Jacob Braccini (9), Aaron Huglen (8), and Matthew Crasa (8). Following tonight's road game against the Storm, Fargo returns to action tomorrow night in another road game against the Lincoln Stars to complete a two-game weekend.
