RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers defeated the Waterloo Black Hawks on Friday night by a final score of 6-2.
In the opening frame, and on the power play, Nolan Renwick (13:01) netted his 13th goal of the season. Renwick teed the puck into the back of the net off of a one-time shot that he received from Ayrton Martino. Minutes later, Owen Fowler (16:05) snapped the puck in on a backdoor goal beating Croteau for a 2-0 lead. The goal was Fowler's seventh of the year and was assisted by Liam Devlin and Aiden Dubinsky.
In the middle period, Ayrton Martino (4:25) sniped the puck past Croteau for a 3-0 Omaha lead. Martino received a cross-ice pass from Lancers Affiliate, Kaleb Smith, who was playing in his first-ever USHL game. The Lancers then took a 4-0 lead after Kienan Draper (9:10) netted his first goal as an Omaha Lancer. Draper entered the zone on a two-on-one with Garret Wright who sent the puck over to Draper who wired it past Croteau. The Black Hawks pulled Croteau after the Draper goal and called on Jack Williams. Waterloo would add two goals for a 4-2 score going into the final period.
Late in the final frame, Waterloo pulled Wiliams for the extra attacker. TJ Schweighardt (17:44) netted an empty-net goal after shooting the puck from the Lancers' goal line into the Waterloo net for a 5-2 score. Liam Devlin (18:32) would add another empty-net goal for a final score of 6-2. Reilly Herbst earned the win after stopping 23 of the 25 shots he faced.
