Storm Game Preview: TC Hosts Omaha, Teams Tied in Conference

Kearney, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm (5-4-0-2, 12 pts.) takes on the Omaha Lancers (6-6-0-0, 12 pts.) for the second time this season and the first time at the Viaero Center Friday at 7:05 p.m.

The Storm is pleased to host Social Media Night, presented by the Nebraska Lottery. Tri-City will have a special Snapchat Geotag during the game and will be doing "Tweet Your Seat" giveaways presented by Nebraska Lottery.

Assistant Captain Alex Limoges broke the Storm record for consecutive games with a goal after scoring Saturday at Fargo. Limoges has goals in six straight games and leads the Storm with seven goals and 13 points.

Tri-City has points in four straight games, its longest run this season. Omaha, after starting 0-4-0-0, has won six of eight games. The Storm is off until next Friday, November 11 at Lincoln after tonight's game.

Limoges' record Tri-City Storm forward Alex Limoges established the Storm's record for consecutive games with a goal, scoring for the sixth straight contest Saturday at Fargo. The Cornell commit surpassed five Storm players that had scored in five straight games: Bill Thomas (2002-03), Rastislav Spirko (2003-04), Jordan Willert (2007-08), Trevor Mingoia (2012-13) and Carson Meyer (2015-16).

One of three Assistant Captains on Tri-City, Limoges leads the team with seven goals and 13 points. He is tied for fourth in the USHL in both categories.

Limoges has tallied in every game since October 7 vs. Green Bay and has points in seven straight games. Both are the longest active streaks in the league.

In eight October games, Limoges scored seven goals, second in the league, and 11 points, tied for second-best.

Limoges has three multi-point games in the last four contests and Tri-City has recorded points in all four games.

First-round fever Two USHL first-round picks, Charlie Kelleher and Wyatt Bongiovanni, are tied for third on the squad with nine points after posting multiple points last weekend against Fargo.

Kelleher, who earned two assists Friday against the Force, was the Storm's 2016 Phase II first-round pick, 12th overall. The 19-year-old leads the club with seven assists and has four helpers in his last three games.

Bongiovanni, the third overall Phase I selection by Des Moines in 2015, is on a five-game point streak and has points in nine of 11 Tri-City games this season.

Shot scarcity The first time the Storm and Lancers met, Tri-City matched a franchise record by allowing 12 shots on goal. Omaha won, 3-2. The Lancers rank last in the league attempting 25.7 shots a game. Tri-City is fourth-best in the circuit giving up 26.8 shots a contest.

The roving Lancers The Omaha Lancers have won four of six games since starting a season-long eight-game road trip. The Lancers started the travel by sweeping the Fargo Force in two weekend games. The next weekend, Omaha beat Team USA in Plymouth, Michigan before falling to the Chicago Steel in Geneva, Illinois. Last weekend, the road warriors went to Bloomington, Illinois and split a series with the Thunder.

When the Lancers arrive at the Viaero Center, the team will have travelled about 4,064 miles during the current trip. After going to Sioux City on Saturday to end the road trip, Omaha will end its journey after about 4,452 miles on the bus.

For comparison, during Tri-City's longest road trip of the 2015-16 season (six games), the team logged about 3,729 miles. It is 3,000 miles to make a round-trip drive from Kearney, Nebraska to San Francisco, California. Additionally, as the crow flies, it is 4,425 miles from Kearney to London.

On the ice, leading goal scorer Pierce Crawford (7g, 3a) is tied with Brannon McManus for the team points lead with ten. Peter Thome, who beat the Storm in the first matchup of the season series, is 5-1-0-0 with a 3.04 goals against average and a .901 save percentage.

On Deck Tri-City's next two games are on the road, starting with a showdown at the Lincoln Stars on Friday, November 11 at 7:35 p.m. On Saturday, November 12, the Storm is in Sioux City for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.

The next Storm home games are on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19 vs. Youngstown. Friday is UNK Night, presented by the Hilltop Mall and features a $5 Kids Friday (voucher for a free taco and soft drink at Kearney Taco Bell). Saturday's game brings on the Wiener Dog Races at intermission, presented by Fariview Vet Clinic.
