Omaha Lancers News Release
Kearney, NE. - Tri-City scored the first three goals of the game as the Storm defeated the Lancers 4-2 Friday night in Kearney.
Filip Suchy knotted his third goal of the season, and now has four points (3g, 1a) in five games with the Lancers. The Omaha power play surrendered a goal for the first time in six games midway through the third period.
After the teams traded golden chances early in the period it was the Storm that was able to crack the scoreless deadlock in the first. Wyllum Deveaux tossed a pass back door to a crashing Adam Goodsir who tapped it past the outstretched pad of Jacob Acton to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead.
Less than a minute left in the first stanza and the Storm struck again. Linus Weissbach fed Charlie Kelleher on a two-on-one. Kelleher made the most of the chance netting his third of the season giving Tri-City a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
The second period became a stalemate with neither team able to change the score. A scrum as time expired in the second led to extended power play time for the Storm to start the third.
After killing off 24 consecutive power plays the Lancer penalty kill had their streak snapped. Bryan Yoon buried a shot low to the blocker side of Jacob Acton to give Tri-City a 3-0 lead. Omaha would finally break through Dayton Rasmussen about two minutes later.
Short-handed Filip Suchy got an opportunity on a break-away and capitalized. Pulling the puck from his forehand to backhand before tucking it past Rasmussen. Suchy's third of the season cut the lead to 3-1. Tri-City would tack on another goal to push the score to 4-1.
Goaltender Jacob Acton, making his third straight start, made 30 saves on 34 shots in the loss. Rasmussen, taking the win, notched 21 saves on 22 shots.
