Fargo, N.D. - A late goal stung the Lincoln Stars as they fell 3-2 to the Fargo Force on Friday in Scheels Arena.
The loss dropped the Stars to 5-7-1 and 2-5-1 on the road.
The Stars made it 1-0 at 6:29 of the first when Ethen Frank broke down the right side of the offensive zone, cut across the crease and slid a shot past Force goalie Matt Murray. Frank's goal was his third of the season. Gustaf Westlund and Mike Gillespie had assists.
Michael Graham equalized for the Force three minutes later with a wrist shot from the hashmarks that beat Stars goalie Josef Korenar on the blocker side. The teams went into the first intermission tied 1-1.
Late in the second period, the Stars struck again to take their second lead of the night. Justin Richards and Jake Nielsen connected for a shorthanded goal at 15:34 of the period. Nielsen was on the scoring end of the two-on-one, Richards and Alex Green had assists.
The one-goal lead held until about seven minutes into the third period when Force forward Jack Adams tied the game with a shot from below the goal line. Adams scored again late in the third to make it 3-2.
The Stars finished 0/5 on the power play and 6/7 on the penalty kill.
Korenar finished with 32 saves.
