
Storm Defeat Musketeers 3-1

Sioux City, IA. - The Tri-City Storm defeated the Sioux City Musketeers by a final score of 3-1 Saturday night at the Tyson Events Center. Ben Schoen, Gavin Brindley, and Hunter Strand scored the Storm's goals in the road victory. Todd Scott made twenty-one saves on twenty-two shots to record his fourteenth victory of the season in net for Tri-City. The Storm completes a three-game weekend on the road tomorrow afternoon against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Puck drop for tomorrow's road game at Young Arena is scheduled for 3:05pm.
Ben Schoen netted his thirteenth goal of the season at 12:57 of Saturday's 1st period to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead in the game. Seconds later, at 13:20 of the 1st period, Gavin Brindley scored his eighth goal of the year to boost the Storm's lead to two goals. Mason Wheeler recorded the assist on Brindley's goal. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 4-1 in the 1st period and carried a 2-0 lead into the 2nd period of Saturday night's road game at the Tyson Events Center.
Sioux City's Justin Hryckowian cut into Tri-City's lead just over five minutes into the 2nd period. Hryckowian's goal was his twelfth of the season and brought the Musketeers back within one goal of the Storm's lead. Hunter Strand scored his thirteenth goal of the season at 6:55 of the 2nd period to give Tri-City a 3-1 lead in the game. Isac Jonsson notched an assist on Strand's scoring play. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 10-5 in the 2nd period and the game entered the 3rd period with the Storm leading by two goals.
No goals were scored in Saturday night's 3rd period and Tri-City defeated Sioux City by a final score of 3-1. Sioux City outshot Tri-City 16-4 in the 3rd period and 22-18 in the game. The Storm improved to 22-12-2-1 in the victory. Tri-City is now 20-0-0-0 when leading after the 2nd period and is also 11-7-0-1 in road games this season. Gavin Brindley was named the 1st Star of the Game, Sioux City's Justin Hryckowian recorded 2nd Star honors, and Todd Scott was named the 3rd Star of the Game. Tri-City has now won five of the opening seven games in the eight-game season series against the Musketeers. The final regular season meeting this year between the Storm and the Musketeers will take place on Wednesday, April 21st at the Tyson Events Center.
