Sioux City Musketeers News Release
(Sioux City, IA) - Tri City scored two early goals and held the Sioux City Musketeers to one shot in the first period en route to a 3-1 victory on Saturday.
Ben Schoen got the Storm on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal just past the midway point in the period. Then 23 seconds later Gavin Brindley found the back of the net, assisted by Mason Wheeler.
The Musketeers cut the lead in half just over five minutes into the second period when Justin Hryckowian buried a one-timer for his 12th goal of the season. But Tri City had an answer as Hunter Strand put his team ahead by two goals once again less than two minutes later.
The Musketeers controlled play for most of the third period, outshooting the Storm 16-4 in the frame, but couldn't solve netminder Todd Scott, who finished with 21 saves. On the other side Akira Schmid stopped 15 shots for Sioux City.
The Musketeers are now 19-19-1 and look ahead to Sunday afternoon when they host Fargo.
