AMJ Player of the Week
The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Mathew Sisca is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 29th.
Sisca played his best hockey of the season last week picking up five points in three games. Held off the scoresheet Friday against the Otters, Sisca tallied once and assisted on two others Saturday in the Storm's 7-4 win over the Rangers. Travelling to Mississauga on Sunday, the Woodbridge native was the only Storm player to record a multiple point game scoring once and setting up Tim Campbell on another in the 4-2 loss to the Majors. A +2 on the weekend, the 19 year old played well at both ends helping his team pick up three points.
Sisca currently sits tied with captain Matt Kennedy for fifth in team scoring recording 16 points in 27 games. Scoring nine times so far this season, he is tied for third in team goals with Michael Latta. His four powerplay goals rank him third on the Storm when scoring with the man advantage. He has recorded four multiple games so far this season with two of them coming this past weekend.
Next up, the Storm start December on the road with a game at the John Labatt Centre in London against the Knights on Friday before hosting the Kitchener Rangers for the second time in a week on Sunday afternoon. The Storm look to build on their three point week last weekend as they face two of the top teams in the Midwest Division on Friday and Sunday.

Performers of the month - November
Taylor Beck- Guelph Storm Performer of the Month and nominee for OHL Performer of the Month
Beck was named the Guelph Storm's performer of the month after recording 17 points throughout the month of November. Recording more points than any other Storm player, Beck received two first and one second star honours for his play. The 18 year old recorded 5 multiple point games this month, including his first hat trick of the season against the Kitchener Rangers.
Currently with 42 points, Beck sits fifth in overall league scoring and fourth in assists. With his 42 points, Beck has set up or scored 48.3% of the Storm's 87 goals this season, by far the highest percentage in the OHL. The second highest percentage is Jordan Skellett, who has been in on 41.6% of Saginaw's markers this season. As of December 1st, Beck has 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points. He is 16 points off of his career best 58 that he recorded in 56 games last season.
Cody St. Jacques-Guelph Storm Goaltender of the Month and nominee for OHL Goaltender of the Month
St. Jacques was named the Guelph Storm's Goaltender of the month after posting a 3-4-1-0 record along with a 3.87 goals against average and a 0.908 save percentage in 16 games. The 19 year old picked up one first star, two second star and one third star honours for his play during the month of November.
As of December 1st, the Iroquois Falls native has a record of 7-7-1-0, a 3.46 goals against average and a save percentage of 0.914,. He currently sits 8th in the OHL in save percentage.
Carter Sandlak-Guelph Storm Rookie of the Month and nominee for OHL Rookie of the Month
Sandlak was named the Guelph Storm's Rookie of the Month after recording three points and putting up a +4 rating during the month of November. The London native also scored his first OHL goal in November against the Owen Sound Attack.
Sandlak was the highest point getter among Storm rookies during November and currently has 4 points, two goals and two assists in 24 games.
Sam Lofquist- Guelph Storm Defenceman of the Month, Performer of the Month and nominee for OHL Defenceman of the Month and Performer of the Month
Lofquist was named the Guelph Storm's defenceman of the month after recording 7 points, one goal and six assists, in 8 games played. Joining the Storm part way through the month, the 18 year old was the Storm's most productive defenceman in November.
Picking up a third star honour against the Battalion in his second game, the Somerset WI native recorded two multiple point games during the month.
Sandlak earns Paul Fendley Acadmic Award
Guelph Storm rookie Carter Sandlak received the Paul Fendley Memorial Student Achievement Award for segment two of the 2009/10 season during the first intermission of Friday's game versus the Erie Otters.
As the top performing high school student for segment one, Sandlak received a $100.00 cheque from the Storm Trackers Fan Club.
Storm players are graded in seven categories to compete for the awards. The awards are presented each month alternating between secondary school players and players attending post-secondary institutions.
Storm players attending high school have the opportunity to be the top high school student five times throughout the year. At the end of the season, the top performing student will be the Storm's nominee for the Ivan Tennant Memorial Award. Last year, Storm forward Peter Holland was the runner up to Niagara's Freddie Hamilton.
University students are also recognized in three segments and the top university student will be the Storm's nominee for the Bobby Smith Memorial Award. Storm defenceman Tim Priamo was the league recipient last season taking 5 courses and averaging 80%, the Guelph native won all three RBC awards last year for academic achievement.

More than 98% of the players currently playing in the Ontario Hockey League are attending high school or post-secondary institutions. More than 400 OHL graduates are currently attending Canadian universities and colleges on scholarships from their OHL teams.

The Guelph Storm Hockey Club has a proud tradition of academic excellence. Following each Ontario Hockey League Season, the OHL selects one player from all team nominees as the OHL Scholastic Player of the Year and presents the Bobby Smith Trophy. In the Guelph Storm's fifteen-year history, a player from the organization has been honoured with the Bobby Smith Trophy a remarkable five times.
