Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Papillion, Neb. - On Thursday, April 26, the Omaha Storm Chasers were honored by the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Communication department with the 2012 Communication Achievement Award. The award has been honoring the best communication-based initiatives since 1957. The Chasers were also honored by the Omaha Chapter of the American Marketing Association with the Platinum Citation of Excellence.
"Receiving these awards is truly an honor," said President and General Manager of the Omaha Storm Chasers, Martie Cordaro. "This staff works so hard at what they do and absolutely everyone played a part in receiving these accolades."
The Platinum Citation of Excellence honors the Storm Chasers opening Werner Park in 2011 despite the difficulties they faced through the weather and being able to put together a successful opening weekend despite a rain-out of Opening Night.
"We are extremely proud of our working relationship with the Omaha Storm Chasers," said Ann Pedersen of Lovegren Marketing Group; marketing partner of the Storm Chasers. "We are thrilled that the Omaha Chapter of the American Marketing Association recognized the success of last season's opening weekend of Werner Park, despite the obstacles placed in front of us by Mother Nature."
"The (UNO Communication Achievement Award) honors those who show excellence in communication and in the community," said the Assistant Professor in the School of Communication at UNO, Dr. David Ogden. "The Storm Chasers have worked closely with this University and community for years and have exhibited greatness at what they do."
Previous winners of the Communication Achievement Award have been Warren Buffet, the Omaha Press Club, the WOWT Sports Team and the Creighton University Journalism Department.
