Scott Cousins' RBI single in the eighth gave the New Orleans Zephyrs the go-ahead run to top the Albuquerque Isotopes 2-1 Friday night at Zephyr Field.

The Zephyrs led 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth when Albuquerque relieve Shane Lindsay hit Sergio Pedroza and Kevin Mattison with pitches. Cousins then singled to center field with two outs, plating Pedroza to put the Z's ahead 2-0.

Bryan Petersen put the Z's on the board first after a leadoff single in the second inning. After stealing second base, Jeff Dominguez singled through the hole at shortstop bringing Petersen in for the 1-0 lead.

Alex Sanabia, meanwhile, cruised through the Albuquerque lineup most of the evening, reaching a three-ball count on just two batters. Sanabia (3-0) pitched seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and no walks to earn his third victory.

After Rob Delaney retired the side in order in the eighth, the Isotopes threatened against Zephyrs closer Sandy Rosario in the ninth. Tim Federowicz scored Josh Fields on a single to right-center field with two outs before Rosario struck out Luis Cruz, earning his league-leading eighth save in as many chances.

Mike Parisi (1-1) took the loss for Albuquerque despite allowing just one earned run off four hits over seven innings.

The Zephyrs and Isotopes will resume game three Saturday at 6pm. Lefty Brad Hand (2-1) will get the start for New Orleans as Will Savage (4-0) takes the mound for Albuquerque.
