RedHawks Fall Short on Friday, 8-3

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Round Rock Express (10-12) pitchers faced two over the minimum over the final eight innings in an 8-3 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (14-8) before 6,792 Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Round Rock starter Martin Perez (2-2) allowed three runs with four hits in six innings in the winning decision. Oklahoma City starter Aneury Rodriguez (1-3) allowed three earned runs and eight hits in three and two-thirds innings in the loss.

The RedHawks opened the scoring in the first inning with a Scott Moore RBI single and a Justin Ruggiano sacrifice fly for a 2-0 score.

Round Rock took the lead with a three run fourth inning. Brad Nelson scored on a Yangervis Solarte double play ball for a 2-1 score. Julio Borbon later singled in Joey Butler for a 2-2 game. Luis Martinez next tripled and plated Borbon for a 3-2 Express lead.

The Express added two runs in the fifth inning against reliever Mickey Storey. Solarte singled in Hernandez for a 4-2 lead before a bases loaded walk of Borbon extended the Express lead to 5-2.

Carlos Corporan put the RedHawks back on the board in the sixth inning with a leadoff home run into the left-centerfield bullpen, cutting the Round Rock lead to 5-3.

In the eighth inning Tommy Mendonca belted a solo home run for Round Rock, opening a 6-3 lead. Solarte belted a two-run home run in the ninth inning for an 8-3 advantage.
