PAPILLION, Neb. - After a week in which he hit six home runs, Storm Chasers catcher Freddy Fermin was named the International League Player of the Week for August 23-29 on Monday by Minor League Baseball.

During a six-game series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders from Werner Park, Fermin went 7-for-19 (.368) with a 1.316 SLG and a 1.796 OPS and 12 RBIs. On Tuesday, Fermin started the week with his second career multi-home run game with his first coming on April 20 at Memphis. Fermin earned another multi-home run game on Thursday, hitting a grand slam and a two-run shot to give him a career-high six-RBI game. He is the only player on the Storm Chasers this season to record a six-RBI game. Fermin also displayed good plate discipline this week, drawing five walks and striking out just three times.

During the month of August, Fermin is hitting .346 with eight home runs, six doubles, and 18 RBIs. He has drawn 13 walks while striking out 12 times during 22 games this month. Fermin is looking to hit above .300 in a month for the first time this season.

Fermin joins infielder Vinnie Pasquantino as the second Storm Chaser to earn International League Player of the Week honors this season. Pasquantino earned the award on May 30 for his series against the Louisville Bats from May 23-29. Pasquantino earned the International League Player of the Month award for the month of May, the only Storm Chaser to win that award this season.

Omaha hits the road next this week for a six-game set from CHS Field in St. Paul, Minn. against the St. Paul Saints. The series will open on Tuesday with a 7:07 p.m. first pitch with coverage starting at 6:45 p.m. on the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.
