Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm has added forward Brendan Budy to the active roster ahead of tonight's game against the Lincoln Stars. Budy was drafted 2nd overall in the 2018 USHL Phase II draft by Tri-City and spent the first half of the 2018-2019 season with the Denver Pioneers (NCAA). Budy is ranked by NHL Central Scouting as a "Player to Watch" for the 2019 NHL Draft in Vancouver, BC.

Brendan Budy, 18, of Langley, British Columbia led the Langley Rivermen (BCHL) with 22 goals, 34 assists, and 56 points during the 2017-2018 regular season. Budy also served as the team's Captain and netted 2 goals and recorded 3 assists during the Rivermen's playoff run. He skated for Canada West at the 2017 World Junior A Challenge and captured a Gold Medal in the event. Most recently, Budy played 6 games with the University of Denver during the first half of the 2018-2019 season. Prior to his time with Denver & Langley, Budy skated for the Delta Hockey Academy in Delta, BC. Budy led the Delta Wild with 19 goals during the 2015-2016 season and was named CSSHL Freshman of the Year. In the same season, Budy provided Delta with 2 goals and 5 assists during the postseason as the team captured the CSSHL Championship.

"I'm really excited to get going this weekend with the Storm. Tri-City drafted me last year, they've got a great team right now, and the coaching staff is amazing. I wanted to come to a place where the team is playing well, and join a great atmosphere, so I thought that this was the best place for me. I want to focus on getting bigger, stronger, faster and I thought that playing in the USHL would help with those goals because it's such a fast league.
