
Gameday Preview: Storm Host Lincoln in Rivalry Matchup

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm face off against the Lincoln Stars at 7:05pm tonight at the Viaero Center in the first game of the Storm's "Rivalry Weekend" series against the Stars and the Omaha Lancers. Tonight's game will be the Storm's first matchup following the holiday break. The Storm split a weekend series on the road against the Fargo Force on December 15th & 16th prior to the break. In Tri-City's last home game at the Viaero Center, the Storm defeated the Stars by a final score of 5-3 on December 13th. Tri-City (19-6-1-0) enters tonight's game as the 1st place team in the Western Conference standings with 39 points. The Storm is 8-2 in its last 10 games and leads Lincoln 5-1 through 6 games in the 9 game season series. In the two team's last meeting at the Viaero Center, Tri-City clinched the season series with a two-goal win. Connor McMenamin and Joe Molenaar each scored two goals in the victory. Tri-City is coming off a 2-1 win at Scheels Arena in Fargo, ND against the Fargo Force on Sunday, December 16th. The Storm will play host to rival Omaha tomorrow night at the Viaero Center to wrap up a two-game weekend against in state rivals.
Lincoln (7-14-3-1) looks for just its 2nd road win of the season in tonight's game. The Stars are 1-7 when playing on the road this season, and the team's lone victory against the Storm during the 2018-2019 regular season came on November 11th in a 3-0 home shutout of Tri-City. The Stars will look to snap a four-game winless streak in tonight's game. Lincoln is 2-8 in its last 10 games and enters tonight's game in 8th place in the Western Conference standings. Tonight's matchup between the Stars and the Storm will be the last between the two teams until March 15th.
