Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Calgary, Alberta -- The Greyhound Western Hockey League Player of the Week is 19-year old veteran Ryan Stone of the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Stone earned the honour by recording four goals and seven points in three games including three powerplay tallies, a shorthanded goal and a game winner during the opening week of the 2004-2005 regular season.
A second round draft choice of the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins, Stone has helped lead Brandon to a perfect 3-0 record to start the year.
In Brandon's lone game this past weekend, the Calgary product scored a shorthanded goal and the game winner on the powerplay as the Wheat Kings doubled up on the visiting Red Deer Rebels 4-2 at the Keystone Centre.
Honourable mention goes to goaltenders Bryan Bridges of Seattle, Jeff Glass of the Kootenay Ice, who recorded back to back shutouts and Medicine Hat's Kevin Nastiuk.
Greyhound Courier Express is the official courier of the Wheat Kings and the Western Hockey League.
