
Stone Crabs Rally Back to Beat Mets 4-3

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The Charlotte Stone Crabs scored an unearned run in the eighth to complete a 4-3 comeback win over the St. Lucie Mets on Tuesday at Tradition Field.
With the game tied 3-3 in the eighth, Cade Gotta reached on an infield single. Josh Prevost then struck out a batter before being relieved by Alberto Baldonado. One of Baldonado's pitches to Nick Ciuffo skipped away and Gotta went to second on a wild pitch. Catcher Tomas Nido's throw to second hit Gotta and deflected into center field. Gotta went to third and eventually scored on Ciuffo's single up the middle to make it 4-3.
The Mets tried to put together a rally in the ninth against Brandon Koch. Patrick Biondi hit a double off the first base bag with two outs, but Koch struck out Champ Stuart to end the game.
The Mets raced out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth. Amed Rosario tripled and scored on a hit by Michael Katz. Nido doubled and Wuilmer Becerra followed with a two-run double.
The Stone Crabs scored three runs in the fifth. With the bases loaded and no outs, Pat Blair lined into a double play. However, Prevost couldn't finish off the Crabs and Alec Sole lined a two-run single to center. Riley Unroe followed with a double that brought home Sole to tie the game 3-3.
Prevost took the loss. Reliever Kyle Bird got the win to improve to 2-0. Koch recorded his second save.
Luis Guillorme, Rosario, Katz and Becerra each collected two hits.
Notes: The Mets dropped to 4-5 at home. They are 4-0 on the road...The Mets committed three errors for the second game in a row...The three-run lead is the largest blown lead in a loss this season...Prevost began his outing in the second inning after rehabbing Josh Edgin tossed the first...Rosario has tripled in back-to-back games. He leads the league with four...The Mets are now 4-2 in one-run games.
Rehab Update: Lefty reliever Josh Edgin started the game and pitched a 1-2-3 first inning. He got a strikeout, pop out and ground out. He threw nine pitches, six for strikes. It was Edgin's fourth rehab appearance and first full inning pitched.
Next Up: The Mets (8-5, T-1st) host the Stone Crabs (7-6) again on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
For the Fans: Wednesday is All You Can Eat and a Seat at Tradition Field. For $15 fans can enjoy a smorgasbord of hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, macaroni salad, popcorn, $2 soda and water and $2 beer.
