Stone Captures Bronze

Canada's National Junior Team took home the Bronze medal at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship Thursday afternoon with an impressive 4-0 shutout win over Finland in Calgary.

Quinton Howden of the Moose Jaw Warriors scored twice in the win, while Mark Visentin turned aside 23 shots to earn the shutout and take home Player of the Game honors.

For Canada, the Bronze medal extends their streak of earning a medal at the World Junior Championship to 14 straight years. It's the first time since 2001 that Canada has played in the Bronze medal game, having competed for Gold in the last 10 tournaments.

Mark Stone of the Brandon Wheat Kings and Ryan Murray of the Everett Silvertips picked up assists for Canada in the contest as the Canadian team bounced back from Tuesday's heartbreaking semi-final loss to the defending champion Russians.

Stone, who led Team Canada with seven goals, and former Prince George Cougar Brett Connolly were named two of Canada's Top Three Performers for the tournament, along with defenseman Brandon Gormley.

Five WHL players represented Team Canada at the tournament including Stone, Howden, Murray, Mark Pysyk of the Edmonton Oil Kings and Brendan Gallagher of the Vancouver Giants.
