Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Stockton CA - The Quakes struggled to generate offense Monday night, striking out 14 times and notching just five hits in a 10-2 loss to the Stockton Ports in game one of a three-game road series.

Making his debut on the hill for the Quakes, starting pitcher Imani Abdullah surrendered three runs in the second inning on a pair of RBI singles from Edwin Diaz and Kevin Merrell. Stockton would add one more run in the third inning. Greg Deichman doubled with one out and was brought home on a Luis Barrera RBI fielders choice to make it a 4-0 game, chasing Abdullah before he could get the final out of the inning.

Stockton's big inning came in the sixth, scoring six runs, capped off by a Luis Barrera 3-RBI triple that made it a 10-0 game.

The Quakes would finally get on the scoreboard in the eighth inning. Donovan Casey led off the inning with a double and was brought home on a Cody Thomas RBI double. Thomas would then score the second and final run for the Quakes on a wild pitch, making it 10-2.

Quakes' pitchers struggled with control throughout the night, walking 11 total Stockton hitters during Monday's contest. Right hander Ryan Moseley was the bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing 2.1 shutout innings in relief of Abdullah (0-1).

The winning pitcher on Monday was Ports' starter Zack Erwin (1-0) who impressed, throwing six scoreless frames, allowing just two hits to Quakes hitters and striking out eight.

Rancho (2-3) will send Dean Kremer (0-1) to the mound on Tuesday morning, as he'll take on Stockton's Jake Bray (0-0). First pitch on Tuesday will be 11:10am.

On Thursday night, the Quakes will play at LoanMart Field for the first time in 2018, as they host the Inland Empire 66ers in the 2018 Home Opener.
