
JetHawks Blanked by San Jose in Opener

LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks were shut out and held to just two hits in a 4-0 loss to San Jose Monday night at The Hangar. It marked the first home shutout loss for Lancaster since April of 2015.
Logan Longwith (0-1) pitched well in defeat, allowing four runs over six innings. San Jose (3-2) did all of their damage on offense in the fifth inning. Jalen Miller put the Giants on the board with a two-run double, and Heath Quinn smacked a two-run homer later in the frame.
Lancaster (3-2) got another strong effort from the bullpen, with Heath Holder and Alexander Guillen combining to throw three scoreless frames.
San Jose starter Raffi Vizcaino (1-0) retired the first nine batters he faced before surrendering a walk. Vince Fernandez singled in the fifth to give the JetHawks their first hit of the game. It wound up being one of just two hits for Lancaster on the night.
Lancaster was last shut out at The Hangar April 10, 2015. San Jose used five pitchers in a 5-0 win over the JetHawks that night, almost three years ago to the day.
The JetHawks will try to rebound Tuesday night in game two versus San Jose. Opening Night starter Rico Garcia (0-0) goes for Lancaster. First pitch is at 6:35 pm.
