Stockton Kings Celebrate the Season of Doing Good Throughout the 209

Each year, as part of the Season of Doing Good, the Stockton Kings collaborate with local partners on various activations to spread cheer throughout the community during the holidays.

The Stockton Kings tipped off the Season of Doing Good by partnering with Oasis Cares, a local church that provides food and resource relief to families and individuals experiencing insecurities, to distribute Thanksgiving fixings to San Joaquin County residents. Their annual distribution, held on November 20, assisted over 1,000 families during Thanksgiving.

The team helped light up the 209 with extra magic in December with the 26th Annual Parade of Lights in Lodi. The holiday parade consisted of several illuminating lights, floats, decorative vehicles, marching bands and dance groups. Thousands of people gathered to witness this holiday extravaganza on December 2 while Stockton Kings mascot, Dunkson and Stockton Kings staff strutted down the streets giving smiles and high fives to fans along the way.

The City of Stockton kicked off the holidays with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 6. More than 1,000 attendees gathered at Weber Point Events Center to enjoy music, hot chocolate and local vendors before the tree lighting. Stockton Kings players, coaches, staff and Dunkson made a special appearance along with Mayor Kevin Lincoln and Stockton councilmembers.

In partnership with Kaiser Permanente and following a successful toy drive, the Stockton Kings staff and Dunkson visited a local Kaiser Permanente facility bearing gifts. Over 200 new and unwrapped toys for all ages were donated to support this drive.

Continuing to spread holiday cheer, Dunkson joined Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Lathrop Christmas Parade on December 11. The event brought some fun to the neighborhood, with floats, marching bands, dancers and other local businesses on display.

Later in December, the team partnered with the African American Chamber of Commerce during their annual Toys for Tots giveaway to deliver Christmas gifts to youth in underserved communities in Stockton. The staff and Dunkson appeared with over 50 toys on December 18, snapped photos, sang and dance with youth and community members to celebrate the Christmas season.

Holidays are always special through the eyes of children and Dunkson and Kings staff helped bring extra magic to the Children's Museum of Stockton's Night with Santa on December 18. Dozens of families enjoyed hot chocolate, games and took photos with Santa and Dunkson. In addition, Dunkson and Kings staff engaged in some friendly one-on-one basketball games and provided holiday giveaways.

The team wrapped up the holiday season by writing youth names on more than 140 stockings for the Parents by Choice Holiday Event on December 20. Parents by Choice provides housing for youth and offers programs for parents to reduce stress and improve the home atmosphere. During this annual event, Dunkson decorated cookies, snapped photos and played arcade games with attendees.
