The Sioux Falls Skyforce embarks on their final two games of the 2021-22 season this weekend in California against the South Bay Lakers.
Before the two-game series at home against the Austin Spurs on Mar. 10-11, the Skyforce were11-13 on the year and just two games back of the Spurs for the final Western Conference playoff spot.
Since then, the team has gone 3-6 and was officially eliminated from playoff contention with the 111-87 defeat to the OKC Blue on Sunday afternoon from the Sanford Pentagon.
Coming into the series with Sioux Falls, South Bay has already clinched the third seed in the Western Conference playoffs with a 19-11 record.

The trip to face the Lakers will mark the first time the Skyforce will play a game at UCLA Health Training Center since Nov. 24, 2019, where South Bay defeated Sioux Falls 133-118. Gary Payton II led the Lakers with 21 points on 10-12 FGA, 11 rebounds and five assists, while Devontae Cacok added 17 points on 8-16 FGA and 13 rebounds. Miami HEAT two-way player Mychal Mulder led the Force with 24 points on 8-13 3PA and four rebounds, while Daryl Macon added 23 points on 8-15 FGA and six assists in the loss.
The Lakers took the previous matchup of the regular season 117-113 from the Sanford Pentagon, where they outscored the Skyforce by 15 points in the first and fourth quarters to secure the victory. Mac McClung and Mason Jones combined for 63 points on 21-35 FGA (11-13 FTA), 17 rebounds, 10 assists and seven steals. Brandon Knight led Sioux Falls with a season-high 27 points on 8-17 FGA, six assists and two steals.
Both teams conclude the regular season on Saturday, with a 7:00 PM CST tip-off in El Segundo.
