Stinson & Martin Named 1st Team All NBA D-League
April 16, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Iowa Wolves News Release
Des Moines, IA, April 16, 2010 - Iowa Energy point guard Curtis Stinson and forward Cartier Martin were each named to the five person 2009-2010 NBA D-League 1st Team today. Stinson is in Tulsa as his Energy squad takes on Tulsa tonight in game 1 of the NBA D-League semi-finals. Stinson set the all-time NBA D-League record for assists in a single season this year, racking up 546 assists (10.6 per game) in 50 games.
Martin was called up to the NBA by the Golden State Warriors in January and by the Washington Wizards in March. During his time in the D-League, he averaged 17.3 points per game and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 45.5% from 3-point range. In 18 NBA games this season, Martin averaged 7.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in 21.7 minutes of action.
Energy center Earl Barron received 3rd team honors from the D-League. The 7'0" big man, who was signed in March by the New York Knicks, averaged 16.2 points and 10.2 rebounds with the Energy. In his 7 games with the Knicks, Barron recorded 6 starts and averaged 11.7 points and 11.0 rebounds.
In all, 13 of the 15 players selected to this year's First, Second, and Third All-NBA D-League teams by a vote of the League's 16 head coaches have NBA experience, while 10 are currently on NBA rosters by way of GATORADE Call-Ups during the season.
"With an all-time high 27 NBA D-League players earning GATORADE Call-Ups to the NBA a record 40 times this season, its no surprise that this year's All-League teams feature such an impressive group of prospects," said Chris Alpert, Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel for the NBA D-League. "The League congratulates the First, Second and Third team selections, as well as the honorable mentions, for their accomplishments this season."
