South Carolina Stingrays News Release
The Week That Was...
The South Carolina Stingrays pushed their record winning streak to 16 games, hold the second longest winning streak in ECHL history and tied the team and league record for most consecutive road wins with triumphs over the Gwinnett Gladiators and Greenville Road Warriors last week for a week record of 3-0-0-0 and improved the overall record to 34-18-1-6.
The Stingrays hosted the Gladiators at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday evening and set a new record for the longest winning streak in team history (14) with a 5-1 victory. Five different Stingrays scored and 11 total players earned points. The previous record for the longest winning streak was set from November 24-December 19, 2009.
On Saturday, the Stingrays visited the Gladiators at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia and earned their 10th win of the season against their long-time rivals behind a 3-0 shutout. Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis made 23 saves for his third shutout of the season and extended his personal winning streak to nine contests. Forwards Brandon Wong (one goal one assist) and Andrew Rowe (two assists) led the Stingrays with two-point performances.
Sunday marked the final regular-season meeting between the Stingrays and Road Warriors with the Stingrays taking in a 3-1 decision at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Defenseman Michal Cajkovsky buried a goal and two assists and the Stingrays fished the head-to-head series with a 10-1-0-3 record.
