Gladiators Acquire Luciani from Walleye

DULUTH, Ga. - The Gwinnett Gladiators have announced that they have traded for Toledo Walleye forward Anthony Luciani on Monday in exchange for defenseman Joe Stejskal. The Gladiators will also receive a future consideration in the deal.

Luciani, 24, leads the Walleye in scoring this season - 58 points on 21 goals and 37 assists in 52 games played. The forward spent the previous three seasons in the Florida Panthers organization, splitting his time between the Cincinnati Cyclones and the San Antonio Rampage from 2011 to 2014.

In 13 games with the Rampage, Luciani tallied three goals and one assist. While with Cincinnati, he played in 133 games and scored 55 goals and 63 assists for the Cyclones. He also led the playoff-bound Cyclones in scoring last season with 53 points (25 goals, 28 assists) in 50 games played.

Prior to his professional career, the Maple, Ontario native played for three years with the Eric Otters of the OHL, two of which he was the team's fourth leading scorer - 68 points in 2009-10, and 78 points in 2010-11.

Stejskal, 26, was Gwinnett's leading scorer among defensemen, totaling 22 points (four goals, 18 assists) in 48 games played. The Grand Rapids, Minnesota native also played in seven games for the Iowa Wild of the AHL last month, his fourth trip to the AHL in his career.
