Warriors Acquire Frazee from Evansville
March 9, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced the club has acquired center Thomas Frazee from the Evansville IceMen in exchange for defenseman Spencer Humphries.
"This is a huge addition for us," head coach Dean Stork said. "Thomas is a strong, right-shot center who plays big and is very physical. He's a shooter and will fill the need we have for a strong player down the middle."
In his second full professional season, Frazee has recorded 31 points (15g, 16a) and 36 penalty minutes in 54 games with Evansville and Fort Wayne. He played the first 38 contests this season with the Komets before being dealt to Evansville on January 27th for Matt Lowry. Frazee amassed 10 points (3g, 7a) in just 16 games with the IceMen.
A native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Frazee spent his rookie season with the Quad City Mallards (Central Hockey League) in 2012-13, where he registered 47 points (24g, 23a), 42 penalty minutes and a +8 rating in 60 regular-season contests. He added 11 points (5g, 6a) in 13 playoff games and helped the Mallards reach the President's Cup semifinals in 2013.
The 6'3, 210-pound center made his professional debut with Bakersfield during the 2011-12 campaign and produced four points (1g, 3a) in 13 games. He bookended that stint with two seasons of college hockey at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where Frazee earned 31 points (9g, 22a) in 28 appearances.
Prior to turning pro, the 24-year old also played six seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 2005-2011. Frazee spent time with the Portland Winter Hawks, Medicine Hat Tigers, Moose Jaw Warriors, Regina Pats and Kamloops Blazers.
Humphries, 22, played 52 games with the Road Warriors this season and recorded 23 points (2g, 21a) and 50 penalty minutes.
