
Stingrays Tickets On Sale for Series With Florida

South Carolina Stingrays News Release
The Stingrays have played just one playoff game against the Florida Everblades in franchise history. The Rays lost that game at the Carolina Ice Palace 3-2, with Paul Elliot scoring the game winning goal on Jamie Hodson. This season the Stingrays enjoyed a record of 4-2 against the Everblades. South Carolina finished the season in fourth place in the division with a record of 39-28-5, while the Blades finished in third place with a mark of 37-25-10. The Stingrays are 19-21-5 all time against Florida in the regular season. The Rays advanced to the division finals by winning three straight games against the top seeded Columbia Inferno, including a 3-0 shut out win in Game Four to end the series. Florida jumped out to a 2-0 series lead against the Roanoke Express and used double overtime to advance in Game Four at home. Both teams are 1-0 in overtime in the playoffs.
The Rays:
Kirk Daubenspeck has picked up where he left off in the post season. Daubenspeck is 3-1 with a 1.99 goals against average and a save percentage of .933%. Ed Courtenay leads the Stingrays in scoring with a goal and four assists for five points. Dustin Johner, Kevin Spiewak and Mike Jickling each have two goals to lead the Stingrays. Johner a rookie, has ten points in eight regular season and playoff games as a professional, on four goals and six assists. Both his goals have come on the power play. The Stingrays team defense is tied for first in the Kelly Cup Playoffs with a mark of 2.00 goals against per game.
The Everblades:
The Everblades have been led in the playoffs by Tom Buckley, who came out of retirement late in the season and leads the Kelly Cup playoffs with six goals and three assists for nine points. The Everblades have used two goaltenders in the post season. Jeff Maund is 1-1 with a 4.62 GAA, while Rob Zepp is 2-0 with a 1.76 GAA. Damian Surma has three goals in the playoffs and John McNabb has five points on two goals and three assists. Florida's offense is averaging 4.00 goals per game in the post season, which ranks second behind the Alaska Aces.
