COMMUNITY UPDATE April 12th - April 18th Weekly Update Blitz Bowl Thursday and Blitz Home Opener with ZOOperstars this Saturday!
Wednesday, April 14th - 17 News at Sunrise's Suzanne Marques will be live at Centennial Garden from 5:00am - 7:00am. Members of the 2004 Bakersfield Blitz as well as the 2004 Blitz Girls will join Suzanne. The players will be doing interviews as well as promoting the 2004 home opener this Saturday, April 17th.
Thursday, April 15th - Bakersfield Sports Entertainment's Director of Community Relations & Development John Ayre will be at Memorial Hospital's NICU Improvement Committee meeting beginning at 8:30am. The committee was formed to help make changes to Memorial's NICU through professional and personal feedback. John's son Zachary was born three month's pre-mature, weighing only 1 pound 6 ounces. He then spent nearly four months in the NICU coming home weighing just four pounds. Memorial Hospital is located at 420 34th Street.
Thursday, April 15th - The Bakersfield Blitz host the third annual Blitz Bowl 2004 at Centennial Garden with kickoff at 7:30pm. The Blitz Bowl matches West vs. East High School Football all-stars. Come see the West squad's Head Coach from North High, Mike Snow and East squad's Head Coach from South High, Steve Napier take their 24-man high school all-star roster and turn them into arena football standouts. Tickets are still available for only $10 for lower and $5 for upper. For more information, contact the Bakersfield Sports Entertainment's office at 716-BLITZ (2548). . Thursday, April 15th - Come on down to the Holiday Inn Select for the IWR (Indoor War Report) with Blitz Head Coach Rick Van Horn as well as special guest WR Eric Mahanke from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. The IWR is a great chance for fans to meet their favorite members of the 2004 Blitz as well as win great prizes. The Holiday Inn Select is located at the corner of Truxtun Avenue and Q Street. The show can also be heard live each week on the Home of the Bakersfield Blitz, KGEO AM 1230.
Saturday, April 17th - Join the Bakersfield Blitz as they host the San Diego Riptide for their 2004 Home Opener at Centennial Garden. The famous ZOOperstars will be in attendance to make their Blitz debut featuring the likes of Harry Canary, Payton Manatee, and Mia Hamster. Also all fans in attendance will receive a free 2004 Blitz magnetic schedule courtesy of WB-12, Fox 98.5, and Whitewater Car Wash sponsor the evening. Bakersfield Blitz individual seats are on sale! They may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday.
