NORTH CHARLESTON, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that forward Matt Reid has signed a try out agreement with the South Carolina Stingrays for the upcoming season. Reid has played the majority of his professional career with the Pee Dee Pride.

"Our training camp this season will be the most competitive camp that the Stingrays have ever had," noted Fitzsimmons. "Matt has had a tremendous career at this level and wants a chance to come compete for a job. He has proven that he can score and is determined to make an impact on our team."

Reid played 26 games with the Basingstoke Bison last year, scoring ten goals, 25 points, and 15 assists. Reid was a member of the Pee Dee Pride for four years, totaling 184 points, 49 goals, and 115 assists. A native of Massena, NY, Reid stands 5'-10" and weighs 190lbs.

"I'm really excited to have the opportunity to try out for the Stingrays. I've always enjoyed playing against South Carolina, and in the North Charleston Coliseum. The Stingrays have a great atmosphere, and they have great fans," commented Reid. Training camp begins on October 9th.

The South Carolina Stingrays, two-time winners of the Kelly Cup, start the season on October 22nd in Columbia against the Inferno. They will drop the puck against the Charlotte Checkers on October 23rd to open their home schedule. The Rays have teamed up with the South Carolina Education Lottery to give three lucky fans in attendance on opening night 1,000 chances at winning a minimum of 10 million dollars. Fans that purchase season ticket packages for as little as $55.50 will be given even more chances to win.
