Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have re-signed captain Cam Brown for the 2004-05 season.

Brown returns to Gwinnett for his 13th professional season after helping lead the Gladiators to the 2004 ECHL Central Division Championship during the team's inaugural season.

"I had more fun last year than I did in all my previous years in pro hockey," said Brown. "Working with Jeff [Pyle] was rewarding as well as a learning experience and I expect the same this season."

Brown was one of six-20 goal scorers last year during the Gladiators inaugural season. The left winger also tallied the first goal in team history on October 18th against the Charlotte Checkers. He also chipped in 21 assists for 41 points on the year.

"Our on-ice success, as a first year team, was second to none," said Brown. "I believe that the potential is still here for us to get a championship this season."

Brown tallied two goals and five assists for 7 points during the 2004 Kelly Cup Playoffs last season for the Gladiators.

Brown returned to the ice last year with the Gladiators after spending the 2002-03 campaign as the head coach of the Baton Rouge Kingfish. During his 12 year professional career, Brown has appeared in the NHL, the IHL, the AHL and the ECHL as well as in 42 games overseas with Olomouc HC in the Czech Republic.

The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native currently ranks second all time in the ECHL for games played with 650 games, 28 games shy of the all-time ECHL record. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound winger also ranks third all time for most career penalty minutes in the ECHL with 2,236, 17 minutes shy of the all-time ECHL Record.
