Stingrays Add Merrimack Captain Dan Kolomatis

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, signed defenseman Dan Kolomatis, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today.

Kolomatis, pronounced KOWE-LOW-MAH-TIS, attended Merrimack College the last four seasons and finished his senior season with career-highs in assists (14) and points (17) in 38 games and served as team captain. In 142 total games, the Basking Ridge, New Jersey, native added 41 points (11 goals, 30 assists).

Dan's older brother, David, skated in 315 career American Hockey League (AHL) games netting 140 points (36 goals, 104 assists) and most recently dressed the Hershey Bears last season, an affiliate of the Stingrays. He is currently competing in Finland.

The Stingrays are giving away "Southern Charm" Shep Rose bobbleheads to the first 1,000 fans on Friday, March 20 as the Stingrays take on the Indy Fuel at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum! Members of the cast including Shep will be at the game! The second season of "Southern Charm" premiers on March 16 on Bravo TV! The Stingrays are also teaming up with Service Master, local True Value Hardware stores and local fire departments for $5ForLife Friday Night! For every $5 donation, a new smoke detector will be purchased and installed for a family in need.

On Saturday, March 21, the Stingrays salute the men and women of the Armed Forces on SAIC Wounded Warriors Night with the USO against the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:05. The first 1,000 fans receive an SAIC USO Stingrays cowbell!
