ORLANDO, Fla. - With four Gladiators making their debuts tonight at the Amway Center, the Gladiators (17-39-3-3) played a strong game against the Orlando Solar Bears (32-22-4-3), staying pace with their up-tempo offense through the shootout, before ultimately falling 4-3. Dan O'Donoghue had a goal and an assist, C.J. Chartrain had two primary assists, and Mike Lee had 45 saves in net for Gwinnett.

Orlando opened the scoring early in the first period with a wristshot from Stefan Della Rovere at 2:34. Mike Lee appeared to get in front of the puck, but it beat his glove hand on Orlando's fourth shot of the game. The new-look Gladiators squad would bounce back from there.

At 6:33, C.J. Chartrain took a point shot in on Garret Sparks, and before Sparks could get a glove on it, Tyler Murovich tipped the puck from the circle to tie the score at one. At 16:55, Bryce Aneloski put Orlando back on top with a power play goal, just Orlando's 13th at home this season.

The Gladiators had a strong second period, despite getting outshot 14-to-8 in the frame. The period was capped off by a Dan O'Donoghue goal at 6:48 as he turned a semi-breakaway into the second game-tying goal of the night.

Gwinnett took the lead in the third period with a two-on-one from Brock Higgs to Greg Carey at 6:39, their third goal in the six minute-mark of a period tonight. Carey's team-leading 13th goal of the season gave the Gladiators a 3-2 lead midway through the third period.

Brett Findlay tied the score with less than three minutes remaining in regulation on a gorgeous lead pass from Ben Johnson, from blue line to blue line, and almost scored again in another breakaway in overtime, but after a frantic extra period, the game would be decided in the shootout.

Brock Higgs scored the lone Gladiators lone in the shootout, while Brock Montgomery scored the game-winner in the sixth round. Garret Sparks picked up the win with 22 saves, while Mike Lee had 45 saves in the loss.

Gwinnett and Orlando will continue on their three-game series on Saturday night at the Amway Center at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WDUN.com and www.gwinnettgladiators.com/radio, starting at 6:45 p.m. Gwinnett's next home game will be on March 27th at 7:35 p.m. as they host Orlando for Friendly Friday.
