Stingrays Add Goaltender Branden Komm

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), have signed goaltender Branden Komm. Komm has joined the team in Florida and will wear #29.

Komm, 24, enters his second ECHL season. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound goaltender spent the majority of last season with the Evansville IceMen. Komm went 3-10-3 with the IceMen, posting a 3.36 goals against average, and a .902 save percentage. He also appeared in one game with the Cincinnati Cyclones, stopping all seven shots he faced in 24 minutes of action.

The Williamsville, New York native played his collegiate hockey at Bentley University. He posted 19 wins and a .923 save percentage his senior season.

The club also announced today that they have released forward Pete Massar from his contract. Massar, 26, was claimed off waivers by the Stingrays from Indy on October 11. He did not appear in any of the club's five games.
