Allen York Returns from AHL Syracuse

Greenville, S.C. - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced goaltender Allen York

has been reassigned to the club from the AHL's Syracuse Crunch. In a related move, rookie netminder P.J. Musico has been released.

York, 26, began the season with Greenville and made 24 saves in the team's opener at Orlando on October 17. He was returned to Syracuse on October 23 and made one appearance with the Crunch, stopping 22 shots in a 4-0 setback to the Utica Comets on October 24.  

The fifth-year pro was signed to a one-year AHL contract with Syracuse on September 2, where he spent eight games between the pipes last season. He also dressed 26 games with the Florida Everblades and posted a 17-5-3 record with a 2.63 goals against average, .903 save percentage and a career-high four shutouts.

A native of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, York played 11 NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets during the 2011-12 season, going 3-2-0 with a 2.30 goals against average and a .919 save percentage. He made his NHL debut on October 25, 2011 against Detroit and earned his first victory on March 28, 2012 against the Red Wings.

In addition, York boasts 48 games of AHL experience on his resume including time with Charlotte, Texas, Rockford, Springfield and Syracuse. The 6'4, 170-pound netminder owns a 23-15-4 record, 2.66 goals against average, .905 save percentage and three shutouts in those games. He has also taken the net in 63 ECHL contests with Chicago, Evansville, South Carolina, Florida and Greenville.

York was selected in the sixth round (158 overall) by Columbus in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Celebrate Halloween with the Swamp Rabbits on Saturday afternoon! Adults and kids alike are encouraged to come to the 3:00 p.m. game dressed in your best costume to participate in our costume contest! All kids 12 and younger are also invited trick-or-treat on the concourse throughout the afternoon.

The Greenville News Family Fun Pack returns for Sunday's game and all fans are invited to stick around after the contest for a free post-game skate with the entire team. The Swamp Rabbits will also sport their all-new, redesigned New York Rangers style jerseys.
