St. Cloud Rox News Release

The St. Cloud Rox woes continued Tuesday night with a 9-4 loss to Willmar at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, MN. The Rox loss was their tenth straight and dropped their record to 5-15 on the season, while Willmar's fourth straight victory improves the Stingers to 12-9.

The Stingers held a 4-0 advantage after three innings, but the Rox cut the lead to 4-3 after six innings. However, the Rox would get no closer as the Stingers would score five runs in the game's final three innings to seal the win.

Rox starter Billy Soule (Minnesota) lasted six innings, giving up six runs on seven hits. The right-hander walked five and struck out none. Scott Lieser (St Cloud State) earned the win for the Stingers with 2.2 innings of two-run relief after starter Jonathon Flynn (Hawaii) was pulled after failing to complete four innings of work.

The top of the Rox order (Mark Rhine-Wake Forest, Chris Paul-California and Boo Vazquez- Pitt) combined to go 5-13 with a pair of runs scored to highlight the Rox offensive attack. Andy Henkemeyer (Minnesota) was the St. Cloud Times player of the game after going 2-4 with an RBI for the Rox.

The Rox are back in action with a matinee against the Stingers Wednesday at 1:05 pm. It's Youth Day presented by Boys and Girls Club and is a great opportunity for kids and adults alike to enjoy a game in the beautiful central Minnesota sun.
