Sarnia Sting News Release
The Sarnia Sting improved to 3-1 in the pre-season with a 3-2 shootout win over the Windsor Spitfires tonight at the WFCU Centre in Windsor.
For the second time this season, 2014 3rd round pick, Jordan Kyrou scored the winning goal in a shootout for the Sting; the first of which came against Saginaw in Game 1 of the pre-season at the RBC Centre in Sarnia.
The game was highlighted by Sting goals from sophomore forward, Noah Bushnell and 3rd year winger, Davis Brown. Brown added an assist on the Bushnell goal giving him two points on the night. Pavel Zacha also picked up an assist on the Bushnell goal early in the second period. With just seconds to go in the 2nd period, Ryan Moore was awarded a penalty shot for the Spitfires. Justin Fazio came up big on the shot to keep the Sting on top, heading into the final frame.
Spitfires' goals were scored by Sam Povorozniouk and Chris Marchese. Marchese scored half-way through the 3rd period to send the game to a shootout.
Both teams are back in action Friday night at the RBC Centre in Sarnia for Game 2 of the divisional home-and-home matchup. The puck drops at 7:05.
The Sarnia Sting will be donating $2 from every ticket to 'Little Miss Melody' - a fund to assist Melody Matthews.
