Windsor Spitfires News Release

(Windsor, ON) A late comeback fell short, as the Spitfires wrapped the home portion of their preseason schedule with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Sarnia Sting Wednesday night at the WFCU Centre. Jordan Kyrou scored the shootout winner and Justin Fazio made 19 saves in the win.

Trailing 2-1 near the midway mark of the third period, Chris Marchese took a nifty feed from Ryan Moore at the right post, beating Sting goaltender Justin Fazio to get the home side back to even.

After a scoreless first period, in which the Spitfires registered just a single shot, the Sting got on the board first as Tecumseh native Noah Bushnell went post-and-in, beating Alex Fotinos just 35 seconds into the middle frame.

The Sting made it 2-0 as Davis Brown at the 9:23 mark with an unassisted goal after a Windsor turnover at the Sarnia blueline.

Sam Povorozniouk finally got the locals on the board with his first of the preseason off a behind-the-back pass from Ryan Foss.

Alex Fotinos made 26 saves in his second consecutive start.

The Spits head to Sarnia Friday, to take on the Sting in the back half of the home-and-home.
