Generals Fall to Petes on Road

The Generals travelled to Peterborough tonight for their final away game of the preseason. As Generals fans know, an intense game is always to be expected when taking on the rival Peterborough Petes.

The puck dropped at 7:05 p.m. and the Petes quickly got things going with a goal by Hunter Garlent on a Petes power play. The Generals returned the scoring with a goal from Cirelli, assited by Latour and Pu. The Petes came back with another goal from Michael Clarke giving them a 2-1 lead. Another goal from Clarke gave the Petes a 3-1 lead. Not to be outdone, the Generals returned the scoring, this time with a goal from Stephen Desrocher. The second period ended with the Gens on a power play, trailing the Petes 3-2.

The third period brought a bit more tension and things got chippy between the two teams. The Petes took a penalty shot early in the third, but couldn't find the back of the net as Jeremy Brodeur stood tall between the posts for the Generals. Brandon Devlin scored a shorthanded goal, giving the Petes a 4-2 lead. Their fifth goal of the game would be another from Clarke, his third of the game. The Petes took the game with a final score of 5-2.

The Generals head home this weekend for their final preseason matchups. Catch the action on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex when the Generals take on the Kingston Frontenacs. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. The Generals look for redemption when they take on the Peterborough Petes this Sunday, Sept. 14 at the Pickering Recreation Complex at 6:05 p.m. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased in advance at the GM Centre Box Office or at the doors of the respective locations.
