Betzold, Boland, Cornel, Masin & Ritchie Attend NHL Camps

(Peterborough, ON, September 11, 2014)- The Peterborough Petes are proud to announce that five players have been invited to attend National Hockey League training camps and rookie camps starting today.

The list of players includes three players selected in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft: 10th overall pick Nick Ritchie (Anaheim Ducks), 35th overall pick Dominik Masin (Tampa Bay Lightning), and 44th overall pick Eric Cornel (Buffalo Sabres), along with free agents Connor Boland (Edmonton Oilers) and Greg Betzold (St. Louis Blues).

Ritchie was picked by the Petes in the first round, second overall in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection. The 6'2", 226lbs winger from Orangeville has amassed 73 goals, 75 assists, 148 points and 246 penalty minutes in 165 OHL regular season games played. He will compete in two Ducks Futures Games against the San Jose Sharks this weekend.

Cornel was chosen by the Petes in the first round, third overall in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection. The 6'1", 186lbs winger from Kemptville has scored 29 goals, 49 assists, 78 points and 38 penalty minutes in 131 games played. He'll compete for the Sabres in the 2014 NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan.

Betzold, a 6'2" 195lbs centre from Bel Air, Maryland, was signed by the Petes as a free agent. He'll compete for the Blues against Cornel's Sabres and six other teams in Traverse City this weekend.

6'2", 200lbs defender Boland, the Petes' 2013/14 captain and Peterborough's second round, 28th overall pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, is set to play for the Oilers at the Young Stars Classic, and will play against teams representing the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks.

Masin, who was acquired by the Petes in the first round, 21st overall in the 2014 CHL Import Draft, will compete at the Tampa Bay Lightning rookie camp and tournament in Tennessee starting on Sunday.
