Sarnia Sting News Release

It wasn't the start that Trevor Letowski and the Sarnia Sting were looking for to start their 3 game Eastern road trip this weekend. The young Sting team were 5 points back of the Plymouth Whalers for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference heading into tonight. With the Sting unable to pick up valuable points, and the Whalers routing the star-studded Greyhounds at home, the Sting are now 7 points out of 8th place in the West.

The Sting allowed 3 goals in the first 5:12 of tonight's game at the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, and were unable to climb back into the game. Despite recording 37 shots on goal, the Sting were unable to match the offense of Ottawa tonight.

Former Elgin-Middlesex Chief Travis Konecny was outstanding tonight, picking up a goal and two assists in the 67's win. The first overall draft pick leads all rookies with 54 points this season.

On a positive note, Hayden Hodgson notched his first as a member of the Sarnia Sting after returning from a 10 game suspension tonight. Brandon Lindberg led the way for the Sting tonight with a goal and an assist. Goldobin, Latta and King also added an assist each.

The Sting head to Belleville tomorrow to take on the Bulls at the Yardman Arena. Then, the Eastern road trip continues as they travel to Kingston on Sunday for an afternoon matchup to close out the weekend.
