Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs doubled up the Saginaw Spirit 4-2 in a rare Friday night home game at the Jack!
The IceDogs would get out of the gate quickly and as has often been the case this season, the powerplay was the catalyst as Aaron Haydon would fire one home only 52 seconds in to give the home side a 1-0 lead. Things would not stop there as Graham Knott would put one home just 16 seconds later to extend the IceDogs lead to 2-0 only 1:08 in. The lead would reach three before the end of the period as Eric Ming would score to put the IceDogs up 3-0 after 20 minutes. Shots after one were 13-10 Niagara.
In the second, Saginaw would get one back at the 4:10 mark of the period, on the powerplay to make it 3-1. That would prove to be the only goal of the period as the IceDogs would head to the third up a pair. The IceDogs continued to lead in the shot count at 22-20 after two.
The IceDogs lead would be cut to one in the third as Saginaw would score shorthanded at the 7:36 mark to make it 3-2. The IceDogs would restore their two goal lead at 16:08, as Vince Dunn would bang one home in front on the powerplay to make it a 4-2 game. That would prove to be the final as Brent Moran was solid in his return from injury, making 35 saves for the victory.
The IceDogs will be right back at it tomorrow night, when they play host to the visiting Sudbury Wolves in their annual Pink in the Rink game at 7pm! Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing location!
