Sarnia Sting News Release

The Sarnia Sting hosted the Kitchener Rangers on Thursday night. It was game four of our best-of-seven Western conference semi-final.

Tonight's matchup turned into a goal-scoring party at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

In the first period, Sting defenceman Connor Schlichting opened the scoring just two minutes in. Schlichting sent a bobbling puck down towards Rangers goaltender Mario Culina. Schlichting's first of the playoffs put the home side up 1-0.

Only a couple minutes later, Kitchener potted a pair of quick goals. Rangers forward Kole Sherwood scored his tenth of the postseason, and defenceman Austin McEneny tallied his first past Sarnia goalie Justin Fazio. Through one period of play, Kitchener held a 2-1 lead.

In the second, Sting forward Brayden Guy knotted up the score. Guy's first of the postseason came on a well-placed shot past the far pad of Culina.

Blueshirts forward Jonathan Yantsis briefly put the visitors ahead 3-2. But not longer after, Sting captain Jordan Kyrou needed to get in on the action.

Adam Ruzicka started off a perfect passing play that had Jordan Ernst play the role of middle man. Kyrou was the finisher. Kyrou's second of the playoffs tied the battle at 3-3.

In the third period, Rangers captain Connor Bunnaman scored twice to put the Rangers ahead by a pair.

Tonight's final score was 5-3 for Kitchener. The official box score can be viewed here.

We return to action tomorrow night at The Aud. Game five puckdrop goes at 7:30 PM.
