
Sting Close Preseason with Loss

The Sarnia Sting will enter their 25th regular season in the Ontario Hockey League following a 5-2 defeat to the Windsor Spitfires in their final pre-season tune up.
Two goal efforts by Will Cuylle and Cole Purboo saw the Spitfires secure a split of the home-and-home. With the loss the Sting finish the exhibition schedule at 1-3-0-0.
For the Sting, Sean Josling and Jamieson Rees, both stand outs in the game had a goal and assist respectively for Sarnia, who will open the regular season Friday, September 21st in Sault Ste Marie. Kari Piiroinen turned in 31 saves, while Aidan Hughes made 29 saves in the loss.
Following next weekends opening season road trip in Sault Ste. Marie and Saginaw. The Sting will celebrate their 25th Home Opener in franchise history on Friday, September 28th when they face off against divisional rival the Flint Firebirds.
