
Spirit Win Fourth Straight; Come back to Beat Firebirds, 6-4

Flint, Michigan - The Saginaw Spirit traveled to Flint for the first of two pre-season games against the Flint Firebirds at Flint Iceland Arenas on Friday night.
Flint's Riley McCourt opened the scoring 9:59 into the first frame. The Spirit quickly tied the scoring when Albert Michnac hammered home a rebound at 10:44, with assists going to Cole Coskey and Ethan Cardwell. Less than two minutes later the Firebirds took the lead when Jake Dunham scored off a shot from the slot. With the first period winding down, Aidan Prueter again tied the game for the Spirit with a rebound off a tip from the point. The opening period finished with both teams tied at two.
In the second, Flint capitalized on a D.J. Busdeker penalty when Jack Wismer scored on the powerplay. The Firebirds took at two goal lead midway in the second from a Kyle Harris wrist shot. Saginaw's Danny Katic cut the lead to one with a wrist shot at 13:08 in the period. Duncan Penman and Cole Perfetti earned assists on the goal. With about 10:00 minutes remaining, Cameron Lamour took over the Spirit net. The Spirit trailed 4-3 after a physical 40 minutes of play.
The Spirit started strong, tying the game at 4-4 just 36 seconds into the third period off a wrist shot from Camaryn Baber. Cole Perfetti and Cole Coskey each getting their second assists in the game. Spirit took their first lead of the game 29 seconds later off a beautiful pass from Albert Michnac to Nicholas Porco. Porco found himself all by himself at the side of an open net. DJ Busdeker tallied the secondary assist. Saginaw's Busdeker added to their lead from a shot off the wing in the final few minutes of the period. The Spirit scored three unanswered to take the lead and finish the game with a 6-4 win.
