
Stewart Sets Tone; Abel Sharp in Friday Win

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - DJ Stewart hit a three-run home run as the fifth batter of the game while Mick Abel gave up one run over six innings and the BlueClaws topped Hudson Valley 4-2 on Friday night at Dutchess Stadium.
Jersey Shore (22-32) has taken three of the first five in the series with the Renegades (26-29).
Stewart's home run in the first inning and was his fourth of the season.
Meanwhile, Mick Abel struck out five over six innings, allowing just one run. It was the longest outing of the season for the Phillies 2020 first round pick. He's allowed just six runs over 21 innings in his last four starts, while striking out 24.
Johan Rojas added an RBI double in the ninth to put the BlueClaws up 4-1.
Aidan Anderson, who came on in the eighth, gave up one run in the ninth but earned his fourth save of the season, all of which have come in the last eight days. Anderson has allowed just one earned run so far this year across 17 innings with Jersey Shore.
Stewart had two hits for the BlueClaws, as did Rixon Wingrove. Rojas stole his 28th base and Ethan Wilson added his 17th of the season in the win.
The teams continue their series on Saturday night at 6:05 pm. RHP Ben Brown will start for Jersey Shore.
