
Stepp leads Ducks past Griffins

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- Joel Stepp scored two goals to lead the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks to a 4-1 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins Wednesday at Van Andel Arena.
Alexei Smirnov and Michael Holmqvist also scored for Cincinnati, which won in Grand Rapids for the first time in franchise history (1-5-2-0). Ferris State product Chris Kunitz chipped in with a pair of assists.
Holmqvist, a first-round pick by Anaheim in 1997, extended his point streak to seven games with his team-leading fourth goal.
Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 16 shots en route to his fourth victory of the season..
David Brisson had the lone goal and Marc Lamothe finished with 17 saves in the loss for the Griffins, who have lost two in a row for the first time this season.
The Ducks face Rochester at 7:35 p.m. Friday at Cincinnati Gardens.
