Steelheads Team up with Trillium Health Partners for Speciality Jersey Night

MISSISSAUGA, ON - On Sunday February 27th at 2:00 PM, the Mississauga Steelheads host the Ottawa 67's in support of Trillium Health Partners (THP). The hockey club will be wearing specialty jerseys designed by Hayden Viggiani who was visiting his brother in the paediatric unit at THP and is extending tickets to patients, families and hospital staff.

Hayden, 12 years old, spoke about his winning idea and helping to keep his brother in good spirits. "I entered the jersey design contest while visiting my brother who was sick at Trillium Hospital in February 2020. While I was there, I saw how well the nurses and doctors took care of my brother. Julian and I thought it was really cool when a lady from the staff came in and gave us the chance to design the jerseys for the Mississauga Steelheads. In my design, I thought about using similar colours to the original Steelheads jersey but also have Trillium colours as well! Julian made a funny jersey with a happy face on it. During one of my visits, a nurse wheeled in with a Nintendo Wii for Julian and we had a lot of fun playing it. They made my brother feel so comfortable that even after we went home, he wanted to go back and keep playing the game. I was really proud of winning the jersey design contest and was disappointed when the game and the puck-drop was cancelled because of COVID. But I'm really happy to be here today with my brother and I'm EXTRA excited to see the Steelheads in the jersey I designed"

The specialty jerseys worn for this game will be available for auction following the game on DASH with all proceeds to be donated to the paediatrics unit at THP. To bid on the jerseys click here.

Tickets purchased through trilliumgiving.ca/steelheads will ensure that $2 from every ticket sold will be donated to THP's paediatric program

On game night, attendees can purchase pucks for Chuck-A-Puck. The closest puck thrown to centre ice will win a prize and proceeds will also be donated to the hospital
